THE RISE AND FALL OF THE CACTI COLONY

Once upon an early time, a long, long time ago
There was thirteen little cacti all in a row
Happy, green and growing their thorns you know
Thorns for protection was their right you see
Quite an independent colony they began to be
Through the deserts heat and terrible onslaught
The thorns protected them just like they thought
When something got to close to where they grew
Wasn't very long at all until the intruders knew
They made a big mistake and it wasn't any wonder
They got stuck with thorns it was quite a blunder
For years the cacti grew, numbered more and more
Harmful plants and things came creeping in the door
But our little cacti stayed with thorns well armed
Our United Cacti thought they could not be farmed
The first thirteen cacti wrote their Bill of Rights
Cacti constitution says keep thorns for any fights
Many cacti enemies tried upon them to encroach
Every time the cacti thorns gave a big reproach
But then one day it happened, trouble from within
Times were so good, complacency started to begin
Elected cacti leaders from their duties strayed
And the cacti population began to be dismayed
Oaths to protect the constitution don't mean a thing
Honor from the leaders seems to have taken wing
Our number one cactus says give up all our thorns
Assault thorns kill cacti, that's what he forewarns
He asks not what cacti want,he makes his own rules
And the cacti leaders are merely his cacti tools
From the outside, war with the cacti can't be won
But from within, without a stop, cacti colony is done
So each and every cactus, come listen to my word
Gather up together and make your voices  heard
If the cacti work together then it's not too late
But if not,you leave the cacti colony to it's fate
