Let me tell you a story about a man called Dad
Worked all his life and his family's all he had
Most jobs he had, well they were really rough
But I'm telling you he was proud of being tough
"I can do it better" was his life's philosophy
Everything he did he looked for improvability
No matter if it's work or if it's fun and play
He was always looking for a quicker better way
He had lots of kids and they had lots of fun
But as the years went by all the work and sun
Took it's toll slowly not noticed by anyone
His health went bad but it happened so slow
Just thought he was tired, he really didn't know
Hazardous chemicals, gas, dust and smoke also
Took away his breath a little more each day
And he smoked, now the piper he's gotta pay
Got to see all his kids graduate high school
Some got married and his grand kids are cool
Two went to college so as not to be a fool
One is a teacher the other's not quite done
Soon she'll be a Doctor that's a prize he won
His only girl is gonna out shine the sun
His health is so bad he's missing all the fun
But he's gonna hang on till the works all done
More grand kids are coming, they are on the way
He'd like to get to see em so guess he'll stay
And Hope his maker don't call till another day
He lived a good life, and he had a great family
He's ready but things he'd like to do and see
A big bucket list before he leaves this Earth
He's building his collection for all he's worth
With Gods grace and glory his battles he has won
He thanks God for time to get his list all done
When collecting's done it's all over don't you know
And when the Good Lord beckons He'll happily go
