CHAPTER FIVE------ GOOBER THE COMMUNITY DOG

GOOBER WENT HUNTING


After the Vet fitted Goober for his cast
Goober laid around till a week had past
He was feeling better,a little more fit
He began to get up and move around a bit
The cast had a metal brace with a loop
That went up over his back like a hoop
Down his leg,kept it stiff like a peg
He couldn't walk far on his stiff leg
He was out in the yard in the hot sun
He decided, cool shade he needed some
Now Goober crawled under my pickup truck
Then he couldn't get out, he was stuck
His struggles,hurt his leg,made him yelp
So really quick Goober needed some help
The kids couldn't help,they really tried
Just hurt him more and he cried and cried
I was talking to the kids on the phone
Try to keep him quiet till I get home
Be there in a minute,I'm almost there
Try to keep him still,how I don't care
As I drove in hahaha,you'd never dream
Kids under there with a bowl of icecream
They said it was the only way they found
To stop his jerking and jumping around
I got under,slid a rug under him then
I said pull him out,I'll tell you when
I got his brace unhooked, gave the word
The kids pulled him out free as a bird
Took him to the Vet,he took off the cast
Said Goober was fine,he had healed fast
We took him home,set him on the ground
Goober went hunting,baying like a hound
