I was lost in thought and nearly asleep
Pondering all my problems,tall and deep
I was back in my room and was all alone
My heart feeling hollow and cold as stone
Down to the point of being sorry for myself
When down from the shelf flew my shelf elf

You need to cheer up were his words to me
World's not as bad as you think it might be
Santa sent me here so that you might learn
For family and friends tho' you might yearn
The Holiday Spirit's here to give you a lift
Nobody on Earth can give you a better gift

Your kindness and goodwill towards all men
Should be at its peak and should never end
Not just now,but all year long,let it glow
Your troubles will be much lighter you know
If you're not home among family and friends
Take heart, their love for you never ends

Santa will be here with gifts in his sack
Your love for the family he'll deliver back
So I put my shelf elf back up on the shelf
And don't you know it,I felt better myself


Put on a smile for people you're meeting
And call out a Merry Christmas greeting
It lifts their spirits,gives them a smile
You'll feel better too after only a while
Keep this up all day,no money does it cost
And you'll find out your Blues you have lost
