WEEKENDS AT THE LAKE
Once upon a time not too long ago
I spent the summer with an Uncle
This Uncle, He just loved to fish
Every weekend on the lake, you know
And all his vacation was his wish
My uncle now,he was a strange dish
With bait & fish his freezer was full
But he absolutely would'nt eat fish
Used to catch 'em and give 'em away
Now "Are they cleaned?" people say
So now he fishes "catch & release"
Keeps enuff for his autumn fish fry
He has one every year if you please
Going to the lake was a real handful
Boat, pickup, converted bus campers
Like wagon trains,in a circle pull
A weatherproof camp,all weekend long
Camps set up now, time to go strong
Bait up the trotlines, don't you know
His trotline bait he never did buy
He gathered it up wherever he'd go
This Uncle of mine was quite a guy
How he gets bait'll give you a smile
And the memories of it"Oh Me Oh my.
"Buuutt another story ,another time"
Every few hours we'd run a trotline
And bait the hooks for another try
All the more for the autumn fish fry
If we get a fish that's really fine
Take a picture, smiles really shine
When weekends over,he breaks up camp
Puts out the fire, picks up the trash
Boats on the trailer and up the ramp
Take it home,pickup,boat,busses too
Clean 'em all up get 'em ready again
We'll be going back the next weekend
Cute. Quirky. Nice work.
