And though she is gone now we knew she loved us,
Mom's love for her kids kept her working you see,
So much harder and longer that it should ever be,
But her love for us we knew was always there,
Even though we didn't sometimes want to share,
She loved us and raised us whatever that took,
And as we grew up and left, to her we could look,
At times her faith in us we thought we had shook
And though we didn't always see things eye to eye,
And sometimes one of us would make her cry,
But she kept on loving us sometimes with a sigh,
Mom was always ready to bake for us a pie,
Her pies and her jellies, oh, she was famous for,

And the world won't see it like that any more,
Now the part of my story that is hard for me,
When Mom started showing her age you see,
A memorial family reunion we held every year,
To honor Christina, my niece who was so dear,
Killed by a drunk who was wasted on beer,
Mom came to the reunions tho' often in fear,
It might be the last time she saw those so dear,
The last one we held and Mom was feeling bad,
But she came anyway and it's really quite sad,
Mom made sure she talked to everyone there,
Saying good bye to those for whom she did care,
The reunion was over and not a week went by,
Mom was with Christina way up in the sky,
Now my story's over gotta stop before I cry,
I'll remember Moms in heaven and I know why.
