Drunken sow

When I was young and just a child
Out on the farm and running wild
Summertime and just out of school
Playing around and acting a fool
We had a cherry tree, oh so fine
Dad and my Uncle made some wine
Had a few drinks and a real good time
Everyone said that wine was so prime
Then after a while came that fatal hour
Our prime wine turned to vinegar sour
Three or four gallons had to be wasted
So then the hog feed with it we basted
We had an old sow with eight little pigs
She ran to the trough, took a few swigs
Shook her head with her mouth open wide
And dived right back in all caution aside
Stuck in her snout and she never stopped
Till the wine ran out, her appetite topped
Staggered around with her legs all spread
We watched as she went for the hogshed
Her back end fell and the front end did not
Back end got up, front fell like it was shot
Got to the shed half way through the door
Then she passed out couldn't go no more
Three days and nights she lay right there
We began to worry, we really didn't dare
Tell Dad, cause we were filled with dread
We were so sure the poor sow was dead
But on the third day to our great surprise
The old sow woke up and she did arise
No worse for the wear maybe even better
But I'm telling you we learned our lesson
