Our little farm a few years ago,a pleasant memory, don't you know
A lot of kids made our life perk, but it made for a lot of work
I worked to make the money, Wife was busy as bees making honey
We all lived on our little farm, well away from the city's harm
We took care of our garden patch, waiting for the chicks to hatch
Guinea eggs, goose eggs, duck and more came out our incubator door
Our old milk cow never to be sold, was worth all her weight in gold
Always plenty of good fresh milk, and creamy butter smooth as silk
Every year she gave us a calf, she cut our grocery bill right in half
Time came for the packing house ride, she'd have another by her side
We raised pigs a goat and rabbits too,if we could we'd a had a zoo
Our big garden grew veggies tall, but the kids didn't like it at all
Said I made them do too much work, they even thought I was a jerk
No work,no eat, that's the way it was but it was fun I tell you cuz
People came by and then they'd stop, wanna buy maters or corn to pop
Beans and squash, okra out our rear, some people came back every year
Was it hard to live like this? No,we know now it was a life of bliss
I was funny because the kids thought it was to much work, interesting and cool, because I would have to agree it would all be worth it to not have to live in the city!!! Thats the young people of now days. They want everything easy, they can't see the joy of living in the country till they get older and sometimes not then. Thank you Richard, this was truely a great one!!!
