Way back when driving over the road,I no reason to go home.
Before I got married and had kids, I just lived in my truck.
Had a load from Long Island to Fort worth and lots of time
to make the delivery. Driving on the interstate along about
midnight I saw a car on the side of the road with flames
coming out from under the hood and a couple of girls trying
to put it out with a blanket. I stopped and put the fire out
with my fire extinguisher but it was too late to save the car.
The girls asked for a ride to the next town so I told them
to climb on up, one could ride shotgun and one on the doghouse
or in the sleeper bunk if she wanted. They asked if they could
bring their stuff so it wouldn't get stolen while they were gone.
They only had a couple of suitcases each so there was room.
The girls were on a road trip to where ever they happened
to wind up when their car burned. We drove on into the night
the girls began to relax and talk. To make a long story short
They asked if they could ride all the way to Fort Worth with me.
A few times before they stopped riding with me I was almost
sorry I said yes but I got used to their constant chatter.
We were driving through Louisiana when we came to a sign
that said we were almost to Natchitoches. They argued all the
way there about how to pronounce the name of the town.
As we rolled into town the girls said they were hungry so I
stopped by a fast food place with truck parking for lunch.
After getting their food, one of the girls said to the cashier,
"Settle an argument for us? Very slowly, tell us where are we"
The cashier leaned over the counter and said:
"Buuurrrrrr-Gerrrrrr Kiiiinnnnnggg"
You guessed it, One of the girls was blonde and one brunette,
But that's another story. The girls rode with me for almost two
weeks before they decided to go home. It'll give me something
else to blog about later cause we had some hilariously fun times.
