MY OLD WORLD WENT COMMERCIAL

MY OLD WORLD WENT COMMERCIAL

I went back to where I used to go
As a young child, don't you know
Camping,swimming & fishing & all
But O my dreams did tumble & fall
First I thought that I'd got lost
They used to be free, now they cost
Not too much, only an arm and a leg
I told them all your pardon I beg
When I was small,no hassle anywhere
Road ran right by the river,no fear
See a good spot, stop and make camp
A day or all night, light your lamp
Swim,float,fish or maybe just wade
Stay a week if you like,no one paid
At a few spots you could rent a boat
A dollar a day that's all she wrote
We usually didn't have it to spare
But we had tubes and we didn't care
Many joyous times I had as a youth
But when I went back it was uncouth
It's now all commercial, even the park
They wanted $10 if we stayed till dark
The fees they asked to stay all night
Were really atrocious, way outta sight
These fees were per person not carload
So I turned, drove back out on the road
Seven kids & friends, myself and my wife
Man, I'd be in debt the rest of my life
We came home and we camped at the lake
Had just as much fun for goodness sake
And yes a fee we did still have to pay
$10 a carload for all night & all day
