HELLO MIDNIGHT

Way back in the 1960's oh so long ago
Racial predudice ran rampant you know
Discrimination was commonly accepted
If not approved and openly expected
I had a cousin very predudiced indeed
Why I know not cause there was no need
Lloyd was Indian and dark as could be
As we walked to the movies once in OKC
We met a black man dark as the night
I just knew Lloyd had started a fight
Cause as we met and started to pass
Lloyd blurted out like some kind of ass
"Hello Midnight"Yes,that's what he said
Big as the man was,I knew we were dead
The man stopped and then turned around
The street was silent there wasn't a sound
The man's reply put Lloyd under the shelf
He said, "You're about 11:30 yourself"
Then he walked on,no more did he say
But he put Lloyd in his place that day
